The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society By: Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

I was impressed with this book! Someone I met at a conference recommended this book to me and I was a little skeptical, I mean the title has 'potato peel pie' in it! I am glad I chose to read it because the one word I can come up with to describe it is charming! It is set in post World War II on an island called Guernsey which was under German occupation during the war. It is written in a series of letters between islanders, a writer, and the writer's publisher and friends. The entire story is told in letters! It was done beautifully. This book is a must read for those who love historical fiction.
