Orange is the New Black By: Piper Kerman

While this book was VERY different from the TV show that is based on it, it was enjoyable in its own way. Piper made a lot of observations on the American prison system and the major faults throughout it. Piper talks about how prisoners need actual help, not to be drugged through their problems. Her experiences with cliques, rules, both written and implied, and her general ability to accommodate was very interesting. I thought Piper did a great job of telling her story while also making a very real and serious statement about prison life.
