A short description of book: In the absence of the all-powerful DRUX, their former servants, the wizards, rule with unmatched power-hungry fury. As they mercilessly destroy all who oppose them, the universe is set to fall to their tyrannical enslavement. Only one, the Lord of the DRUX, with his mystical and ethereal sword, stands a chance against such a menacing foe. But he cannot do so as a DRUX. He must take on the weakness of mortal flesh. Struggling to endure human limitations and emotional toil, the Demond of Legend forges a forbidden love with a mortal girl; a bond stronger than any supernatural power he has ever known. But will that love be enough for him to overcome such crippling odds and bring peace back to the universe?
What inspired you to write? And what was the inspiration for this book? Being born into a harsh world of abuse and neglect, I quickly found that the only safe place for me was in the stories I would create in my mind. As I grew to adulthood, the stories had grown so big and complex that I knew it was time to put them on paper.
As I grew, I found that the meaning of life is love. To fall in love is the greatest gift we can ever experience. Second to that is honor and loyalty.
I wanted to create a series with great detail, depth and imagination, that focused on the power of love and honor, and to what lengths the hero would go to protect it, or avenge it. The first book in the series was my portrayal of unending love, even in the face of overwhelming evil.
What is the last book you read? The Hobbit. Though I had read Lord of the Rings many years ago, I had never picked up the Hobbit.
Who is/are your favorite author(s)? That all depends on the genre. I quite enjoy C.S. Lewis and Tolkien for their rich worlds and complex writing. Emily Bronte or Jane Austen is where I go to read the English language, in all its romantic beauty, describe love in ways we’ve long stopped doing.
What is/are your favorite book(s)? My all-time favorite book is ‘Wuthering Heights’. Heathcliff taught me that no effort in the pursuit of love is ever wasted. To me, he is a standing example of a man’s pursuit of the heart of the woman he loves, and in a time where romance is sadly lacking, he reminds us of the power of true love. One should never be afraid of, or shy away from what life’s purpose really is – love.
After all of your hard work, what does it feel like to be picked up by a publisher? It’s surreal. So much writing and rewiring and slogging through the thickness of rejection made me wonder how much one is to endure of this before they go mad. But as I learned, it isn’t about trying to become published. It’s about following your heart and passion for your craft first. Knocking on every door until one opens. Never giving up on who you are or doubting your work. It’s so easy to get discouraged. But yes, this feels pretty fantastic!
